This post is a part of continuing series on the Censored Newspaper Articles (CNAs).
On May 22, 1947, Chosen Shimbun submitted an editorial to the Civil Censorship Detachment (CCD) about the Korean Youth League. (Prange Call No. 47-loc-0215)
The editorial, “建青の使命” [Kensei’s Missions], was written by a member of the Korean Youth League (朝鮮建国促進青年同盟). The author strongly encourages the members of the League to lead other Koreans in the effort to “secure peace and freedom for Korea” by “carrying out the thorough-going democratization in the political, economic, educational, social, and living fields.” As noted on the hand-written Japanese manuscript and on the CCD documents, several portions of the editorial were deleted.
The digital images of the article are available onsite in the Prange Collection and in the National Diet Library of Japan’s Digital Collection.
