This post is a part of continuing series on the Censored Newspaper Articles (CNAs).
On December 20, 1947, the Tokyo Times reported that the Pope was so impressed with the work of a group of Japanese Catholics to assist disabled veterans, that he sent 10,000 yen in support. According to the article, the group decided to deliver the entire 10,000 yen donation to the workhouse for disabled veterans on Christmas Day. The article was initially “Held”, but was eventually passed by the Civil Censorship Detachment (CCD).
The Japanese galley proof, entitled “傷[痍]者の授産場にローマ法王から一萬圓 日本信敎の善行が結完,” is available onsite in the Prange Collection.
