100th Anniversary of Natsume Soseki’s Death

Today, December 9, 2016, marks the 100th anniversary of Natsume Soseki’s death.

There are 74 books by and about Natsume Soseki (1867-1916) in the Prange Collection — three of which are children’s books about Soseki.  The children’s books have been digitized and are available in the Prange Digital Children’s Book Collection.  Full-text access to the children’s books is limited to the University of Maryland, College Park campus.  When accessing the books off-campus, only a thumbnail of the front cover and the bibliographic information are available.

The remaining 71 books are in the Prange general collection.  They have not been digitized, but they are searchable in the University of Maryland Libraries online catalog.  Three of the books were censored by the Civil Censorship Detachment.  See the images below.
